Children's Hypnotherapy

 - Questions

What experience do you have in working with children?

I am a primary school and Special Educational Needs teacher and have more than 20 years’ experience in working with children and young people.

Is Hypnotherapy safe?

Yes, Hypnotherapy is completely natural and safe.

Can I talk to you about my child before I make an appointment?

Of course!  We can do this over the 'phone or in person.  It is important to discuss the problem your child has and how I will be able to help you.  We also talk about what will happen during the session and how you can support at home.

How do children and young people respond?

Children respond fantastically due to the fact that they are in the learning phase of their lives, observant and open to suggestion as well as being extremely imaginative.

Can I be in the session with my child?

Yes, of course.  Most older children, especially teenagers feel more comfortable being in a session on their own.  Younger children sometimes prefer you to be there but not always.  You are welcome to sit in or we have some comfortable chairs just outside the room where you can wait.

Do I actually take part in the session?

No, even though you may be with us I will be focused on chatting with your child. This is important so that I can take in what they are both what they are saying and the language that they might use to express themselves.

What happens in the session?
We have lots of time to talk about your child's problem -  about how it is affecting them and how they would like things to be different.

I then make a tailor-made session especially for them using their imagination, visualisation, metaphors and stories which are age-appropriate.  I match them to your child's interests, attention span and personality and may also use a variety of books and other play therapy to enhance our work together.

I may record part of the session so that you can take it home with you to play which reinforces the work we have done together.

What if I have any other questions?

I am always available for support and advice so don't be afraid to get in touch with me between sessions if you need to!
